Où se trouve la Guyane française ?
Vue de la ville de Cayenne, en Guyane française.
La Guyane française is unique because it blends South American nature with French culture. It’s one of the few places where you can explore the Amazon rainforest in a European region. Most of the area is covered by rainforest, home to jaguars, sloths, toucans, caimans, and turtles. You can explore the Maroni River, visit traditional villages, and enjoy eco-tourism through hiking and canoeing.
La Guyane française is also very diverse. Its people include Creoles, Indigenous groups, Maroons, and Hmong from Laos. In the capital, Cayenne, there are busy markets and French colonial buildings. Tourists often visit the Guiana Space Centre near Kourou to see rocket launches, and the nearby Salvation Islands are known for their history as a former prison colony.
